Why Simplified Marketing is the Key to Results

marketing essentials marketing tips

Marketing can be challenging and overwhelming for many businesses. There are so many platforms, strategies, and trends to choose from and try. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing and feel lost in a confusing sea of marketing options. When your marketing feels ineffective, overwhelming, or overly complex, it can be tempting to throw in the towel and stop marketing altogether. However, this is not the best course of action. Instead of halting all marketing efforts when you’re feeling down, I recommend leaning into a simplified marketing strategy.

Your Simplified Marketing Strategy

So often, when I first connect with businesses, the most common thing that they say is that they feel stuck. They're overwhelmed with the efforts they're making in their marketing, trying countless initiatives and strategies, but they’re still not feeling confident in the results.

The first thing I recommend they do is strip down their marketing efforts into what’s definitely working, what’s not, and what is most important to get working, even if that leaves just one thing. It’s important that you are able to measure the impact of your marketing efforts so that you can make informed decisions about where to focus your time, energy, money, and resources.

If a marketing initiative is not bringing you results, it’s okay to let it go. Take a step back, reassess your approach, and move forward with a simplified marketing strategy that you can feel confident in.

Doing more is not going to solve the problem and can lead to more confusion and overwhelm. The key to getting results is to keep your marketing strategy simple, clear, and easy to execute.

Once you’ve identified what is working, you can build on that foundation when you’re ready by trying new strategies, exploring different platforms, playing with your branding and messaging, and trying the trends that feel in alignment with your business and audience.

Simplified Marketing for the Long Game

It’s important to remember that marketing is a long game, so it’s important to keep tabs on how you’re feeling about your marketing, because the last thing you want is to feel completely burnt out, as that will show in your marketing efforts. If you have a team that you can outsource or delegate marketing tasks to, do it! This will help you pace yourself along the way, as marketing is a marathon, not a sprint.

I know it can be tempting to go after all of the flashy marketing tactics and trends you see online, but I can promise you, when you strip down your efforts and focus on a simplified marketing strategy based on what is working and build from there, you will see more results and reduce the overwhelm simultaneously.
