What it Takes to Build an Effective Marketing Foundation

The term “marketing” gets tossed around often in the online space, but oftentimes, it’s not being used correctly. Marketing goes way beyond just getting the word out about your brand and business, generating leads, connecting with potential customers, and increasing revenue. While these are positive consequences of effective marketing, there is so much more to it. Read on to learn more about building an effective marketing foundation for your business that translates to your audience.
Building an Effective Marketing Foundation
Building an effective marketing foundation takes time and consistency to build the momentum for all of those positive consequences of marketing to occur. This is especially true if you’re new in business and/or have limited resources to help you achieve those goals.
The entire foundation of marketing is to translate your brand to your audience. It's about sharing your message, why you're here, how you can help, who you can help, and shifting their way of thinking from "I don't need this" to "I need you to do this for me."
An effective marketing foundation starts with using modalities and tactics to get to know your audience and figure out what resonates most with them (and what doesn’t!). That’s the marketing game we’re playing, a game of trial and error with the end goal of knowing your audience better so you can connect with them on a deeper level.
Where Results Factor Into Your Marketing Foundation
Results are essential when it comes to marketing, but when we dive head first into them, it’s easy to get stuck in a loop that focuses only on the short-term results instead of the long-term results and longevity of our marketing efforts.
Results matter, but they're also variables in the bigger picture. Instead of hinging on those results (or lack thereof), use them as a magnifying glass to why your brand (your bigger picture) is or isn't resonating. Then you can adapt, make changes, and grow from there.
An effective marketing foundation is built on connecting with and getting to know your audience and focusing your marketing efforts on translating your brand and message to them in a way that resonates. Don’t focus only on results, but trust that they will come over time if you stay consistent, stay adaptable, and keep assessing and trying new things.
